perimeter
Today at school we talked about perimeter in math. The kids had fun measuring with different tools - yard sticks, rulers, tape measures. At the end of the lesson before going home a couple girls asked if they could measure the perimeter of my belly! They ran to get a second tape measure "just in case" when I said yes! I measured 48 inches around! Then one little girl said, "hey let's see how many centimeters that is - we'll get an even bigger number!" She was right: 123 centimeters. I've taught her well!

busy weekend
This past weekend the Faulkner's and Scherman's were in town visiting, so we had a jam-packed weekend of all of us old highschool friends getting together. It's so funny to see how after all these years when we get together it's like we talk or see each other on a daily basis! We've all got our careers, families, houses and we've come a long way! We got together at Becky's for pizza Friday night and a bunch of our kiddos played for hours in their basement with everything from lincoln logs to trains and bouncy basketball! Saturday morning we were all more rested than I expected and couldn't pass up the invitation to meet up at Lincoln Park Zoo - the weather was unbelieveably beautiful. Charlie and I had never been there, we typically hit Brookfield and Cosley Zoo. The boys loved watching the monkeys and gorillas rough-housing like brothers do and seeing the polar bears splashing and jumping into the water. We got a later start than everyone, and stayed a bit longer than the others. The zoo's pretty small and I did pretty well with a day full of walking - Mom was worried I'd go into labor! We teased that Charlie'd end up pulling me in the wagon eventually! The hardest part was walking from the parking lot when we first got there. Anyway, later that night Ryan and Pam were kind enough to let ten children take over Ryan's new house. (I hope nothing was ruined or broken by the time we all cleared out of there!) We all brought plenty of toys to keep the kids (ages 5 down to 8 months) all busy and just as we were heading out, it turned into a naked-baby bouncy house as all the little ones were getting ready for bedtime. Sunday, Logan and I decided to hang out at Grandma and Gramp's house and took a wagon ride to the park with Evan and Jamie while Charlie and Carter were at bowling. This morning I woke up to get ready for work feeling like we didn't spend a single moment here at home all weekend long and as I drove to work I kept thinking of all I want to get done here in the next couple weeks! It was a beautiful weekend jam-packed with spending time with old friends and our family and it was well worth every minute!

been busy, but with nothing fun
Thought I'd post a quick note about how much has and has not been going on causing me to not be posting lately! Really, nothing's too new. We did pretty much finish Ava's room - all that's left is painting the rocking chair and mirror and hanging a couple things, oh and cleaning out her closet. I've got to get pictures of it posted - I'm so excited about how everything has turned out in there! We've made a list of a few baby girl necessities to buy and need to raid Jamie's basement for some things she borrowed or had for Evan that we never had. As far as the boys, we're busy getting Carter registered for Kindergarten (yeah! Kindergarten in the fall!), getting Logan registered for preschool and transitioned from Early Intervention to the school district for speech, and planning for daycare and transportation in the fall. Things would be so much easier if I could take just a year off work to get everyone where they need to go when they need to go there! Unfortunately, that's not an option. I'm starting to get things in order for my sub that was hired last week. She'll be able to come in for three days of transitioning right after Spring Break and then I'll just have one more week to go!
